September 19, 2023 WEEK 6 Keyboard Ka Ba? ⌨️ 💻

Keyboard ka ba? Kasi type kita... I love Tagalog pick up lines! this one means are you a keyboard because you're my type haha

It has been such a great week but soo weird because we have been doing a few things for the last time! I fly out Saturday night for the Philippines and will arrive that monday. We actually skip completely over sunday because of the time zone differences. I have never been so scared and excited at the same time in my life.
I have learned so much this week. I loved learning about repentance and faith, God is willing to help us repent and give us that grace if we are willing to let Him!

HIGHLIGHTS
- Singing "Hindi Ko Alam" to everything (It means I don't know)
- We all signed a paper promising to not speak english until wednesday and it lasted maybe one day (our teacher played inspirational music while we signed it)
- I finally got the first vision memorized in Tagalog at the start of the week!
- Brother Macarilay has a Tagalog speaking Filipino mom and he called her and had all of us talk to her in Tagalog and when she asked me what the weather was like in the Philippines I said maliit (tiny) instead of mainit (hot)
- The constant thermostat war with me and sister strong turning up the heat and the elders turing it all the way down (we bring blankets to class)
- taking the EI test to see where we are at with the language
- Getting travel plans!
- Having my mom send me my piano music and playing it in the practice rooms
- Playing sand volleyball with Samoan elders
- Learning how to do the cup song and playing it at pretty much every meal

FILIPINO CULTURE
- Arnis: fights to the death with sticks
- They also train fighting chickens for chicken fights in the streets
- They put their toothbrushes in the fridge
- Rice absolutely goes with every meal and they have all types of different words for rice cooked uncooked and anything that goes on rice

PICS
- Dinners lately have not been great so we have been eating cereal and cookies for food
- We had a 30 min debate in class when two elders split up and one went on the stairs and the other one followed us to the elevators about which one was in the wrong it was pretty funny
- Some google maps street views of places in my mission!
- One of the samoans started calling Elder McDougal "son" throughout our sand volleyball game and so at the end of the game he carried him back to the MTC like a good dad
- Phillipino pesos
- stalker pictures of us in the residence halls
- and our tag stickers for when we planned on only speaking Tagalog

ESPIRITUAL NA ISIP
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
I have really had to rely on the Lord this week and trust that he knows what he is doing! I know that he will take care of me as I travel this week and I know if you trust in Him he can help you too, I love you all!
