December 24, 2023 WEEK 20 Maligayang Pasko πŸŽ„

I can confidently say this has been the weirdest most random week of my life haha

This weeks injury was when we were out proceliting and I stepped on a rusty nail that went straight through my shoe into my foot. We went home to clean it and tried proceliting still but it swelled up so big from trying to walk on it and turned purple later that night. After calling the mission nurse we were told that we needed to go to the hospital the next morning.

At the hospital since it was almost christmas there were no doctors in to see me. I limped back and forth between buildings getting redirected from office to office and then we just gave up and went home. Luckily the mission nurse knows her stuff and its been healing pretty well.

HIGHLIGHTS
- This guy we met asked if my mom was single because he really wanted to be my dad. I said absolutely not and he gave me his whole dating profile in case she was ever looking for someone. (He was completely serious and also married) He said he would take any of my relatives too so if anyone wants a "loyal, good with kids, religious 68 year old Filipino" let me know
- A drunk guy on a jeepney came over and started flirting with me and trying to hold my hand. Towards the end of the ride he put his arm around me and sang a song that he made up.
- Christmas Conference was super fun! We did our Polynesian dance and some Polynesian elders did the Hawka.
- When we got home from Christmas Con we realized that both of us left our keys on the desk that morning in all of the rush. We ended up locked out of our appartment for 2 days because the Landlord was in his province for Christmas. For the time we were locked out we stayed in the Sisters apartment upstairs and wore their clothes and extra toothbrushes. (Sister Tu'Ivai jumped on the roof and crawled down to our balcony just for the balcony door to be locked too hahaha)
- The whole thing with stepping on a nail has made it super hard to walk the past few days but there has been a lot of miracles with jeepneys picking us up in places they usually arent avaliable
- I finally found a violin! A member let us take it to the appartment so the sisters decided to go caroling while I played the violin it was so fun and good to be able to play again I missed it sooo much.
- Lastly the thing that has made this week just really weird was the amount of random encounters and contacts weve had. Including being bible bashed by two pastors and an army soldier wanting to buy us coffee.

CULTURE
Everyone gets real drunk for Christmas and they all stay up until 12. Last night we heard these two drunk guys singing "wala akong pera (I have no money) merry christmas🎢" until midnight.

ESPIRITUAL NA ISIP
I am so greatful for this amazing season we have to focus on Christ and the perfect life he lived. He lived and died for all of us and I know that he knows and loves you perfectly. Because of him we can have happiness in this life. I love all of you and hope you all have a maligayang pasko
