February 4, 2024 WEEK 26 I ate Balut 🐣

This week was the start of Panagbenga Festival! Baguio's yearly flower festival that lasts until March 15th. Sadly I was teaching English class during the parade but we have had fun watching everyone practice in flower outfits and traditional filipino clothes.

HIGHLIGHTS
- I finally tried the Balut, it was just something that had to be done sometime or another while I was here. I rate it a 5/10 kinda gross but just tasted like a bad hard boiled egg
- One of our friends had family over and during our lesson one of them asked us for the church website and then refered himself to us somehow. He said he wants us to teach him more about the Book of Mormon :)
- We had 7 friends at church! This is a record for us but it was the most stressdul sunday ever. I also was pretty much wrestling Sister Donnas crazy child the whole time too trying to keep her from running on the pulpit
- We've had no food because we had no time to grocery shop last pday but all the nanays always give us veggies. We've been eating toast and hot chocolate for every meal haha
- Someone thought I was from England because of my accent when I speak Tagalog???
- I hit 6 months this week whattt
- A major tender mercy I had last week that I forgot to write about was that we got a new set of couple missionaries and the sister looked exactly like my Grandma Kris who passed away last November. Her voice was even the same so at the end of our meeting I just told her that and she gave me a hug. I started crying right there in the parking lot because my whole mission it has felt like Grandma Kris has been with me and now it feels like she is here with me physically ♡ This sister told me that Grandma is proud of me and that she will give me a hug from her everytime she sees me.

TONGAN CULTURE 🇹🇴
They used to not have watches or clocks and just went off of when the roosters would crow

ESPIRITUAL NA ISIP
A line from one of the Youth Album songs really hit me this week during studies "When the wind is blowing, there might be a reason it is" (Good Day)
I liked this because we all are dealing with a lot right now but these trials and challenges are part of a bigger plan for us. There are for us to grow as a person and learn.

Mahal ko kayo have a great week ☆
