January 15, 2024 WEEK 23 The Cost of Murder: 20 Water Buffalo 🐃
One of the random encounters this week included a Kagawad from an area up north that was still tribes. We asked him if we could just share a short message and he agreed but then ended up sharing a very long message with us about his tribe.
In his tribe if someone murders they have to pay 20 kalabaw to the family of who they murdered which I thought was pretty crazy haha. He was a cool guy and asked if we would come to his place up north to teach him more about the Book of Mormon but sadly he is far from our area.
HIGHLIGHTS
- A friend of ours really wants me to join the US military
- Miracle people have been popping up this week who have been really receptive and keeping all commitments
- When we were teaching a friend about the holy ghost he clapped his hands and said "holy spirit activate"
- We had quite the experience trying to get to a members house. To get there we had to wait 45 minutes for a jeepney but none came so we taxied. Once we got there none of us actually had cash so the taxi driver had to park while we broke our 1000 peso on a bunch of mangoes. After all that we found out that he took us to the wrong place so we had to take another taxi haha.
- Because we had so many mangoes we made a mango float cake with graham crackers cream and mangos sooo good
- BROTHER NEIL GOT BAPTISED the missionaries found him in Taiwan when we reffered him and I got to watch the whole thing and talk to him over facebook video call. It was so emmotional and so good. I swear I have never felt that kind of happiness.
- We had the opportunity to have the elders come to one of our friends house to give her a blessing of comfort and healing. She is a sweet nanay about 70 years old and was robbed. Because of it she has had nonstop heart and head pain since. The next morning after the blessing she said "can you tell the apaostles that came to my house yesterday thank you because I am healed now." It was so cool to witness that. ♡
CULTURE
I want to do Tongan culture this week because I have been learning so many cool things from my comp! But something cool is that they still have kings there in Tonga.
ESPIRITUAL NA ISIP
A friend sent us this article called "God said No" that I will attatch in my photos. I thought it is a good lesson on God's love and timing. He truely knows what is best for us.
